1. What exactly does "20/20 vision" mean?

"20/20 vision" is commonly accepted as the definition of optimal vision. It means that a person can clearly see an object from 20 feet that the average person with normal vision can see at the same distance. If someone sees 20/15, he/she can see at 20 feet what the average person with normal vision can see at 15 feet.

2. Why dilation is so important?

After the drops take effect; doctor can get a much better view of your retina, optic nerve and vessels in the back of the eye.  This is a very important part of your preventative eye care as well as some eye surgeries.

3. If somebody has been diagnosed with cataracts. How long should he/she wait to have the necessary treatment to correct this problem?

When a cataract reduces your vision to the point where it is interfering with your daily activities or enjoyments, then it's time to have them removed.

Your tear drainage system may be plugged, or you may have dry eyes.

Wearing 100% UV protection and a brimmed hat when outdoors, exercising, not smoking, eating a healthy diet and visiting your eye care practitioner on a regular basis for exams.
